Bringhurst Meats was started in 1934 by Howard and Ralph Bringhurst of
Tansboro New Jersey. The brothers began killing pigs to sell along with their sweet
potatoes grown on the farm. Other farmers began bringing their animals to be processed and
the business began growing. In the early 1940's, the retail store was built and is still
the center of our existing building. In the mid 1960's the brothers' sons Ralph and Al
began working in the business. The business continued to grow and change into the multi
faceted meat business it is today. A far cry from pigs in a pickup truck. Today the
business is owned by Ralph and Jeff Bringhurst and is still on the old farmstead. We
process and sell beef, pork, veal, lamb, goat, ostrich, emu and buffalo under USDA
inspection. We still process a lot of animals for farmers own consumpation. We also do
catering and specialize in pig roasts. We make our own natural hickory smoked hams, bacon,
beef jerky, snack sticks, kielbasa, fresh pork sausages with no additives, scrapple, and
many other items the old fashioned way. Our old style butcher service in our store gives
that personal touch lost with giant supermarkets. We're proud of our heritage and honored
to serve our local customers.
