This week our spotlight is on Kathy Miskell. Like many of our employees she wears several hats. You’ll usually find her at the cashier station, but she also works the wrapping table, stocks shelves, is our resident DJ, and handles a variety of miscellaneous tasks.
She’s also our store’s “decorator in chief”. Kathy’s crafty creations make the environment more festive and fun. Her interest in crafting was sparked 20 years when she came across an “octopus baby” kit while cleaning out a relative’s attic. She was immediately hooked, and crafting has been her passion ever since.
Kathy’s creativity is not limited to decorating. She’s an excellent problem solver too, a skill she likely honed during her years as an area manager for Diamond Furniture. For example, she crafted a “steak gauge” to help customers figure out what thickness to request, and has made signs to help shoppers navigate the store.

Kathy is a South Jersey native whose been living in Berlin since she was in sixth grade. She has been working at Bringhurst for nearly a year and a half, and she finds her experience here to be very different than at her previous job. “It was much more corporate, more rigid there. Everyone here works hard, but it’s much more relaxed, more homey”.
She particularly enjoys meeting and speaking with people that come into the store. “Our customers are unique. They’re calm… not pushy and demanding like you’ll find in some places.” It’s no surprise that customers also enjoy meeting and speaking with her. There’s always a smile on her face, and her joy is contagious.
For you new customers, Kathy has this advice: “Try our broccoli rabe sausage award-winning kielbasi.” For Kathy , we have this request: Keep doing what you’re doing. Customers love it, and so do we.
