Meet Our Team
Posted 7/22/20
We’re excited to introduce Becky, one of the newest members of our team. Six years ago, Becky moved from MD to NJ to attend Vision Baptist College. She has since graduated, and last summer she left on a 10-month assignment to do missionary work in the Dominican Republic When asked if life in DR was different than she was expecting, she said “The poverty… really didn’t surprise me – I already knew how very blessed we are here in America – but I was impressed by how joyful they are, even in the midst of that poverty.” Becky says that soon after arriving in the Dominican Republic she experienced the kind of mild culture shock that might be expected when someone is suddenly removed from everything familiar to them. But her return to the states was more shocking. She arrived back in NJ in early June. “I love it here - the Lord has really blessed this nation – but it took some getting used to when I returned because there were so many things I had become accustomed to (in the Dominican Republic.) Plus, everything had changed. The coronavirus had hit, and in a lot of ways it didn’t even feel like the same country.” |
Becky joined our team in mid-June. This is her second stint with us; she had briefly worked in our catering group years ago, so she knew what to expect. “A big part of the job is being willing to jump in and do whatever needs to be one. Everyone works together to make sure the job gets done. If you’re a good team member it’s a great place to work, and it is a learning experience for sure.”
When she’s not working Becky spends much of her time learning to speak Spanish, or working in the ministry at her church - Solid Rock Baptist Church. When she is working, her cheerful spirit makes what we do seem less like work. Her smile is infectious even when she’s wearing her mask. So welcome, Becky! We’re glad to have you on the team.
